How to Turn Off OTP Verification on eCitizen During Login. The eCitizen portal in Kenya has introduced enhanced security measures, including the use of One Time Passwords (OTPs) to ensure secure access to your account. While these measures are beneficial, they can sometimes be inconvenient, especially if you don’t have your phone with you. If you prefer to disable OTP verification, follow the steps outlined below.

Requirements to Turn Off OTP Verification

Before you can disable OTP verification on your eCitizen account, ensure you have the following:

  • A valid eCitizen account
  • The phone number or email registered with eCitizen
  • Your ID number
  • Your eCitizen password (you can reset it if you don’t remember it)

Step-by-Step Procedure to Turn Off OTP Verification

  1. Open Your Browser
    • On your phone or PC, open your preferred browser.
  2. Visit the eCitizen Login Page
    • In the address bar, type https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke and press Enter.
  3. Log In to Your Account
    • Enter your ID number or email used during registration.
    • Click on the “Login” button.
  4. Enter Your Password
    • Key in your eCitizen password and click “Login”.
  5. Receive OTP
    • Choose the method to receive the OTP (either via SMS or email).
    • Enter the OTP code you received and click “Login” to access your eCitizen account.
  6. Access Account Management
    • Once logged in, navigate to “Account Management”.
  7. Disable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
    • Scroll down to the “Two Factor Authentication (2FA)” section.
    • Click on “One-Time Password” to turn it off.
  8. Confirm the Change
    • Enter your eCitizen password again to confirm the change.
    • Submit the request to disable OTP verification.

By following these steps, you can successfully turn off OTP verification on your eCitizen account, making the login process quicker and more convenient. Remember that while disabling OTP can make access easier, it also reduces the security of your account.
