The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is a statutory body established under the Kenya Roads Act of 2007 and inaugurated in September 2008. It is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management, and maintenance of all National Trunk Roads comprising Class S, A, and B roads. For those in the transport industry dealing with wide or tall loads, obtaining a KeNHA Exemption Permit is essential.   1. Visit the KeNHA Website
    • Open your browser and go to the KeNHA website: https://kenha.co.ke/
  2. Access the Permits Portal
    • Scroll down to the Quick Links or online services section.
    • Click on the Permits Portal link: https://permits.kenha.co.ke:7080/
  3. Login or Register an Account
    • If you already have an account, enter your email and password to log in.
    • If you are a new user, proceed to register an account. After registration, activate your account through the confirmation email sent to you.
  4. Navigate to the Exemption Permits Section
    • On the dashboard, click on the menu labeled “Exemption Permits” on the left side.
    • Select “New Permit Application.”
  5. Fill in Vehicle Details
    • Enter the necessary vehicle details as prompted (e.g., vehicle registration number, type of load).
    • Click on “Next.”
  6. Upload Required Documents
    • Upload all the required documents (vehicle logbook, insurance certificate, inspection report).
    • Submit your application.
  7. Application Status
    • After submission, your application status will initially show as “Applied.”
    • Monitor your application status regularly to see updates from KeNHA.
  8. Payment of Application Fee
    • Once KeNHA has reviewed your application, the status will change to “Pending Payment.”
    • Pay the application fee as instructed on the portal.
    • After payment, submit your application for final approval.
