Biography
His Excellency Engineer Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi was appointed as Minister of State for Energy Affairs in November 2018.
Career
In addition to his current role as President & CEO of QatarEnergy, His Excellency also serves as Deputy Chairman of QatarEnergy, a position he has held since November 2018.
His journey with QatarEnergy began in September 2014 when he assumed the role of Managing Director, President, and Chief Executive Officer.
From 2006 to 2014, His Excellency served as the Director of QatarEnergy’s Oil & Gas Ventures Directorate, where he played a pivotal role in overseeing all oil and gas field developments and exploration activities in Qatar.
Prior to that, between 1991 and 2006, His Excellency contributed to QatarEnergy’s Reservoir & Field Development Department. During this time, he held the position of Manager of Gas Development, where he was responsible for the management and development of the North Field.
Education
His Excellency Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Energy & Gas Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in the USA.
Responsibilities
As Minister of State for Energy Affairs, His Excellency oversees a broad spectrum of energy-related matters, including:
- Ensuring the optimal utilization of the country’s natural resources in accordance with relevant laws.
- Ensuring the regular and sustainable supply of energy, power, and water for domestic needs, while continuously reviewing potential and viable alternatives to secure such needs.
- Developing overall policies and strategies for the advancement of national industries in the energy sector.
