Biography
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari assumed the role of Minister of Public Health in January 2016.
Career
Prior to her appointment as Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency held the position of Managing Director at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). She began her journey at HMC’s Women’s Hospital in 1996 and steadily progressed to the role of Managing Director in 2007.
Before her tenure at HMC, Her Excellency contributed to various renowned organizations, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), Reuters, and as a freelance health reporter and writer.
Education
Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari holds a PhD in Healthcare Management from Brunel University in the UK.
Responsibilities
As Minister of Public Health, Her Excellency oversees a wide array of responsibilities within the Ministry, including:
- Ensuring the quality and effectiveness of services provided by both public and private sector health service providers.
- Supervising public health service programs, encompassing disease prevention, occupational health, food safety, environmental safety, and national immunization programs.
- Developing and implementing Qatar’s National Health and Public Health Strategies, while monitoring their progress closely.
