Biography
His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari assumed the role of Minister of Finance in October 2021.
Career
With a career spanning over three decades, His Excellency brings extensive experience in government and the financial industry to his role. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Finance, he served as the Minister of Commerce and Industry. His notable tenure includes serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar National Bank Group (QNB) from July 2013 to November 2018.
His Excellency holds key positions in various organizations, contributing to Qatar’s economic development. He is a member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment, and he serves as a Board Member for Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Energy. Additionally, he chairs Qatar National Bank, Qatar Development Bank, and Katara Hospitality.
Education
His Excellency holds a master of science in Management Information System from Seattle Pacific University. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Math and Computer Science at Eastern Washington University.
Responsibilities
As Minister of Finance, His Excellency oversees a wide range of financial matters, including regulating financial policies, managing public finances, and drafting and implementing Qatar’s State Budget. He plays a crucial role in promoting economic diversification and refining fiscal policies in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
