Qatar’s Minister of Transport
Biography
His Excellency Jassim bin Saif bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti assumed the role of Minister of Transport in October 2021. Previously, he served as the Minister of Transport and Communications starting from January 2016, following the merger of the two ministries. He had held the position of Minister of Transport since 2013.
Career
His Excellency began his career in the Qatar Armed Forces, rising to the rank of Brigadier General and serving as Commander of the Maintenance Arms. He has received several prestigious decorations for his service, including the Commander of the Legion of Honour, Officer of the Legion of Honour, and Chevalier of the Legion of Honour.
Throughout his tenure in the Qatar Armed Forces, His Excellency held key leadership positions, including Chairman of the Engineers Qualifying Committee, Chairman of the Industrialisation Committee, and Member of the Investment Committee.
In addition to his role as Minister of Transport, His Excellency holds various leadership positions, including Chairman of the Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), Chairman of QTerminals, Chairman of the Hamad Port Steering Committee, and Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee for the establishment of Qatar Railway Network (Qatar Rail). He is also a board member of Qatar Airways Group.
His Excellency is actively involved in numerous committees and councils, including the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, Ministerial Group for coordination and follow-up of major projects, Ministerial Committee to stimulate private sector participation, and Ministerial Group for land allocation and reclamation for new projects.
Education
His Excellency holds a master’s degree in Military Science and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Responsibilities
As Minister of Transport, His Excellency oversees the regulation of land, maritime, and air transport in Qatar. He is responsible for developing and enhancing mobility and transport services, as well as studying relevant projects and supervising their implementation.
