Qatar’s Minister of Municipality
Biography
His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya assumed office as Minister of Municipality on 8 January 2024.
Career
His Excellency has held prominent roles across various sectors in Qatar. From September 2018, he served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Barwa Real Estate Company, where he was later promoted to Chairman in 2023. Additionally, in March 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of Katara Hospitality and joined the boards of the United Development Company and the Qatar Free Zones Authority in March 2022.
Drawing on his extensive managerial experience, His Excellency has played a pivotal role in advancing development initiatives aligned with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. He also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors at Al Saad Sports Club.
Previously, His Excellency held key positions at the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), Qatar Primary Materials Company, and Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. He began his career at Qatar Petroleum, later transitioning to roles at RasGas.
Education
His Excellency Al Attiya holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cardiff University, United Kingdom.
Responsibilities
As Minister of Municipality, His Excellency oversees various aspects of the Ministry, including the preparation of urban plans, land surveying and division, and temporary expropriation and seizure of real estate for public benefit.
