If you’re looking to register a driving school in Kenya, it is essential to meet the requirements set by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA). Requirements to Register an NTSA-Approved Driving School in Kenya

  1. Registration Form
    • Fill out the NTSA registration form, Form A.
  2. KRA PIN Certificate
    • Obtain a KRA PIN certificate for the individual or business registering the school.
  3. Business Registration
    • Provide a copy of the certificate of incorporation or business registration certificate.
  4. Vehicles’ Documentation
    • Submit copies of vehicles’ logbooks and insurance policies for all training vehicles.
  5. Instructor Certification
    • Ensure all driving instructors possess NTSA instructors’ certificates.
  6. Instructors’ Licenses
    • Provide a list of driving instructors, including copies of their driving instructors’ licenses.
  7. Vehicle Inspection Reports
    • Submit certified copies of inspection reports for the vehicles to be used for training.
  8. Teaching Materials
    • Prepare schemes of work for instructors and samples of lesson plans.
  9. Premises Documentation
    • Submit a title, lease, or rental agreement for the premises from which the driving school will operate. NTSA recommends that each driving school should have or own at least 1.7 acres of land for proper training facilities.
  10. Training Facilities
    • Ensure the school has a model highway and an equipped ICT center.
  11. Employee Documentation
    • Provide CV copies for all employees of the school.

Application Process for Registering a Driving School (NTSA registration requirement)

  1. Visit NTSA Website
    • Go to www.ntsa.go.ke.
  2. Service Portal
    • Select the preferred service portal. driving school application process.
  3. Sign In
    • Sign in using your e-citizen credentials.
  4. Application Form
    • Fill out the application form and upload colored photos as required.
  5. Submit Application
    • Submit the completed application form.
  6. Await Approval
    • Await approval and SMS notification from NTSA.
  7. Verification and Inspection
    • NTSA will conduct verification and physical inspection of the premises and vehicles.
  8. Notification of Approval/Rejection
    • Receive a notification of approval or rejection from NTSA.
  9. Make Payments
    • If approved, make the necessary payments as instructed by NTSA.
  10. Activation and Licensing
    • Upon payment, your account will be activated, and a license will be generated.
  11. Display Certificate
    • Print and display the NTSA certificate in the driving school office.
