How to Apply for a Provisional Driving License on eCitizen. The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is responsible for testing and licensing drivers in Kenya, a process often conducted through driving schools. If you are enrolled in a driving school and pursuing a driving course, you will need a Provisional Driving License (PDL) valid for 3 months. This guide outlines the steps to apply for a PDL on eCitizen.

Requirements to Apply for Provisional Driving License on eCitizen

Before applying for a Provisional Driving License, ensure you have the following:

  • An eCitizen account (if you don’t have one, you can register for free)
  • Enrollment in a driving school
  • Knowledge of your blood group
  • Place of residence and town details

Step-by-Step Procedure to Apply for Provisional Driving License

  1. Open Your Browser
    • Use your mobile phone or PC to open your preferred browser.
  2. Visit the eCitizen Website
    • In the URL bar, type https://accounts.ecitizen.go.ke and press Enter.
  3. Log In or Create an Account
    • Click on “Login” at the top right corner.
    • If you don’t have an account, click on “Create Account” and sign up.
    • Enter your ID number or email and the password you set during registration.
    • Send the OTP to your phone or email, enter it, and click on “Login”.
  4. Access the NTSA Portal
    • On the eCitizen Dashboard, locate the “National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA (New)” portal and click on it.
    • Alternatively, you can directly visit https://serviceportal.ntsa.go.ke and authorize the login via eCitizen.
  5. Apply for Provisional Driving License
    • Click on the “Apply Provisional Driving License” button and wait for it to load.
    • Fill in the required details:
      • Select the Driving School you are enrolled in.
      • Enter your Blood Group.
      • Choose the Type of License you are applying for.
      • Answer some eligibility questions.
    • Click on “Submit” after completing the form.
  6. Payment
    • Pay the application fee as prompted.
    • Click on “Complete” to finalize your application.
  7. Approval
    • Wait for the driving school to approve your PDL application.
