How to become a Mazingira Green Party member is a question many environmentally conscious Kenyans are asking. The Mazingira Green Party of Kenya (MGP), formerly known as the Liberal Party of Kenya (LPK), was founded in 1997 by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai. The party is rooted in green politics, emphasizing ecological wisdom, social justice, grassroots democracy, and nonviolence. In 2002, Maathai led the party into the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC), securing a parliamentary seat in Tetu Constituency. Step 1: Resign from Your Current Political Party

Before joining MGP, you must resign from your current political party.

2. If you’re a first-time user, register by entering your ID number and first name as they appear on your national ID.
3. You’ll receive an ORPP PIN via SMS.
4. Dial *509# again and enter your PIN.
5. Select “Membership”, then choose Option 3: Resign.
6. Confirm your details to complete the resignation process.

Option B: Resign Online via the ORPP Portal

1. Visit the Integrated Political Parties Management System (IPPMS) or log in through eCitizen.
2. Register or log in using your ID number and first name.
3. Navigate to “Membership Resignation” under your account.
4. Confirm your resignation by following the on-screen prompts and entering the OTP sent to your phone.
5. Check your registration status to ensure you are no longer affiliated with any party.

Step 2: Register as a Mazingira Green Party Member

After successfully resigning from your previous party, you can now register as a member of MGP.

2. Enter your ORPP PIN.
3. Select “Membership”, then choose “Join a party”.
4. Enter the party name: Mazingira Green Party.
5. Enter the party code: 010.
6. Provide your county, constituency, and ward codes as prompted.

Option B: Register Online via the ORPP Portal

1. Log in to the IPPMS portal or through eCitizen.
2. Go to the “Join a Party” section.
3. Select Mazingira Green Party (MGP) from the list.
