Jubilee Party, led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, has made significant changes to its leadership, naming Richard Ole Kenta as the new Secretary General. This announcement, made on January 22, 2026, follows a series of strategic leadership shifts designed to prepare the party for the upcoming 2027 General Elections. Ole Kenta, a former Narok Member of Parliament, takes over from Jeremiah Kioni, who has served as the party Secretary General.
Kioni, now the Deputy Party Leader, will work alongside Fred Matiang’i, who was appointed Deputy Party Leader in October 2025. The changes were approved by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) during a meeting held earlier this week. The party expressed confidence in Kenta’s leadership and called on all members, supporters, and Kenyans of goodwill to fully support him in his new role.
Kenta’s political career has spanned multiple terms in parliament, where he was first elected in 2013 on a TNA ticket. Although he contested the Narok County gubernatorial seat in the 2022 General Elections, his experience in the political sphere is seen as valuable for Jubilee, particularly as the party gears up for the 2027 elections. Fred Matiang’i, also present during the announcement, emphasized that Kenta’s extensive political experience would be vital in revitalizing the party and ensuring its success in the upcoming polls.
Additional appointments made during the NEC meeting include Zack Kinuthia as the Deputy Secretary General, Yassin Noor Haji as the National Organizing Secretary, and Vincent Mogaka Kimoki as the Chairperson. Other new appointments include Dan Mwangi as the Executive Director, Kiembi Gitura as the Director of Elections, and Peter Kados as the Chair of the MCA Caucus. Additionally, Saitoti Torome was appointed to Jubilee Foundation, Public Policy.
These leadership changes come three months after the party officially endorsed Fred Matiang’i as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election. The restructuring within Jubilee Party demonstrates the party’s commitment to strengthening its leadership and preparing for the electoral battle ahead.
