Biography
Her Excellency Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi assumed the role of Minister of Education and Higher Education in October 2021.
Career
With a career spanning over 20 years, Her Excellency Buthaina has made significant contributions to education in various capacities. Prior to her current appointment, she served as the President of Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation from 2016 to 2021.
Before joining Qatar Foundation in 2006, Her Excellency worked as a teacher, head of department, and vice principal at several Ministry of Education and Higher Education schools. At Qatar Foundation, she held various leadership positions, including Founding President of Pre-University Education, where she developed programs, established specialized schools and centers, and served on national education committees and trustee boards for schools and universities.
Education
Her Excellency holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris and a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education with a major in English from Qatar University.
Responsibilities
As Minister of Education and Higher Education, Her Excellency oversees various aspects related to the ministry, including:
- Recruiting, training, supporting, and licensing public school teachers, as well as licensing private schools.
- Increasing awareness of important educational activities.
- Setting curriculum standards for Arabic, English, math, science, and Islamic studies for all public K-12 schools.
- Liaising with relevant parties to support the education system in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
