Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold May Launch Next Month

The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is allegedly coming on December 5

Samsung is reportedly preparing to unveil its first tri-foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, and new leaks suggest the launch could happen as early as next month. A publication cited by Ice Universe claims the device will debut on December 5, bringing an entirely new form factor to Samsung’s foldable lineup. This marks a major milestone as foldable innovation moves from bi-fold models to more advanced tri-fold designs. Samsung has been discreet about the project, but early details now provide a clearer view of what to expect.

  • A New Display Experience With Three Panels
  • Battery Capacity Split Across Three Segments
  • Limited Availability and High Pricing Expected
  • Samsung Prepares for a New Foldable Era

The Z TriFold is rumored to measure just 4.2mm thick when opened and 14mm when folded. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold7 has the same thickness when open but reaches only 8.9mm when closed. The added thickness on the TriFold comes from its multi-segment hinge structure, which requires additional layers compared to a traditional bi-fold design. However, the open-state thickness suggests Samsung is using an ultra-slim internal panel to maintain a sleek extended profile.

A New Display Experience With Three Panels

The device is expected to feature a 6.5-inch cover display similar in size to today’s Fold models. When unfolded, it reportedly expands into a wide 10-inch inner display, offering a more cinematic aspect ratio. Unlike the near-square shape of the Fold7’s 8-inch panel, the TriFold’s design aims for a wider layout that supports productivity apps, multitasking, and media viewing.

This new layout could place the TriFold in a category between a tablet and a smartphone, appealing to power users who need extended workspace without carrying a separate device. The transition between folded states is also expected to be fluid, though Samsung has only shown prototype units so far.

Battery Capacity Split Across Three Segments

Samsung is said to equip the Z TriFold with a 5,600mAh battery split into three cells, each placed in a separate segment of the foldable body. This exceeds the Fold7’s 4,400mAh dual-cell battery and ensures that the new device maintains strong endurance despite powering a larger 10-inch display. The multi-cell design also helps maintain weight balance across the device, which is important for a comfortable folding experience.

Because tri-fold designs require more intricate engineering, Samsung may limit performance draws to maintain efficiency. However, the larger battery capacity suggests Samsung is confident in delivering all-day usage for typical workloads.

Limited Availability and High Pricing Expected

Reports from The Chosun in Korea support the December launch date and the initial specifications. The publication claims the Z TriFold will be produced in limited quantities, signaling that Samsung expects early demand but wants to avoid oversupply for a premium experimental product. The device is also expected to ship only in select markets, possibly starting with South Korea, the US, and China.

Pricing will likely exceed current foldable flagships, given the complexity of a tri-fold hinge mechanism and the cost of larger flexible displays. Although Samsung has not confirmed pricing, analysts expect it to sit well above the Fold7 series.

Samsung Prepares for a New Foldable Era

Samsung has shown tri-fold prototypes at events, but never a market-ready model. The leaked reports suggest the company is finally ready to commercialize the design. A tri-fold device represents one of the biggest steps forward in the foldable category, offering users a phone, a tablet, and a mini-laptop experience in one device. If Samsung succeeds, the Galaxy Z TriFold could redefine what premium mobile devices look like.

The rumored launch next month suggests more leaks may appear soon. As Samsung moves closer to unveiling its most ambitious foldable yet, expectations continue to grow for what could become the next major evolution in mobile design. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold may open a new chapter in the foldable race, combining innovation with practicality in ways the industry has not seen before.
