As Samsung gears up for the launch of the Galaxy A37 early next year, anticipation is building around what improvements the device will bring over its predecessor, the Galaxy A26. While the Galaxy A26 was a popular mid-range offering, the A37 looks set to elevate Samsung’s affordable smartphone lineup with enhanced features, better performance, and updated design elements. Here’s a closer look at the key differences to expect between the two models.

  • Design and Build
  • Display
  • Performance
  • Camera Upgrades
  • Battery and Charging
  • Final Thoughts: Galaxy A37 vs A26

Design and Build

Both the Galaxy A37 and A26 belong to Samsung’s mid-range A series, but they each have subtle design differences. The A37 will likely feature a slightly slimmer and lighter build, making it a bit more ergonomic than the A26. While both phones have a plastic frame, they share the same IP67 water and dust resistance rating and Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on both the front and back. The A37’s size will be similar to the A26, but with better space efficiency.

The A37 will likely offer a more modern and polished look, with refined curves and color options yet to be confirmed. The A26, on the other hand, came in Lavender, Black, White, and Lime, but the A37 may feature new finishes to match current trends.

Display

Both the A37 and A26 will feature a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, ensuring smooth scrolling and vibrant colors. However, the A37 is expected to improve on the A26’s peak brightness, which maxed out at just over 1,000 nits. Expect brighter outdoor visibility and improved HDR support on the newer model.

The A37 will also upgrade the fingerprint scanner to an in-display model, whereas the A26 has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated with the power button.

Performance

Performance-wise, the Galaxy A37 is likely to come with a newer, more powerful Exynos chipset. The A37 is expected to feature an Exynos 1580 or 1480 (5nm), which should offer faster processing and improved energy efficiency compared to the Exynos 1380 (5nm) in the A26. This improvement will likely make the A37 more responsive, especially for multitasking and gaming.

The A37 will come with 8GB of RAM as standard, with options for 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The A26, in contrast, starts with 6GB of RAM and offers similar storage options. The extra RAM in the A37 will help enhance overall device performance, especially in memory-heavy tasks.

Camera Upgrades

Both devices will feature triple rear cameras, but the A37 will take the lead with an improved macro sensor. The A37 will offer a 50MP main camera, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP macro camera, while the A26 comes with a 2MP macro sensor. The A37’s 50MP camera is expected to offer superior low-light performance and more detailed shots.

For selfies, the A37 will include a 12MP front camera, while the A26 has a 13MP front camera. This minor change in the front camera will likely improve the A37’s overall selfie quality.

Battery and Charging

The battery capacity for both models will remain the same, with a 5,000mAh battery. However, the A37 is expected to feature 45W wired charging, a significant upgrade over the 25W charging offered by the A26. This faster charging speed will allow users to get more battery life in less time, a crucial factor for those on the go.

Neither phone supports wireless charging, but the A37’s faster wired charging speeds should make it a more attractive option for users looking for convenience.

Final Thoughts: Galaxy A37 vs A26

The Samsung Galaxy A37 looks set to improve upon the A26 with better performance, a faster charging system, enhanced cameras, and a more refined design. While the A26 is still a solid option for budget-conscious buyers, the A37 will likely offer better value for those looking for improved speed and a slightly more premium experience.

In summary, the Galaxy A37 will be a more capable and future-proof device, making it a better choice for those who prioritize faster performance, improved camera capabilities, and better battery life. However, for those who are on a budget and don’t need the latest and greatest features, the A26 will still offer a great experience at a more affordable price.
