Early Life
Oscar Sudi was born into a family of squatters in the Moi University area. His family lived in a grass-thatched house on the farm of Mzee Kibor arap Talai, who allowed them to stay temporarily. His father dealt in charcoal, and his mother ran a grocery business near Moi University Main Campus, where Sudi occasionally helped.
In 1994, Sudi bought a second-hand bicycle to help transport charcoal. He then became friends with matatu (public transport) operators and started working as a tout in 1996. He earned a salary and saved money from driving matatus to invest in farming.
By 2000, Sudi had married and moved into an iron-sheet house. He purchased a matatu and expanded his business ventures by introducing pool tables in Eldoret, a concept he had seen in Nairobi. His ventures grew, leading him to car dealership and significant business deals with wealthy businessmen, including David Lagat. These connections introduced him to influential figures like former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo and current Deputy President William Ruto.
