Migori Teachers Training College Courses
1. Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE)
Entry Requirements:
- KCSE mean grade of C (plain) or its equivalent.
- Candidates with disabilities: C- grade in KCSE or its equivalent.
- Must take all courses specified in the DECTE curriculum.
- Required to undertake a micro-teaching course of 3 months.
- Must complete required coursework hours and pass assessments as directed by KNEC.
- Evidence of adherence to positive moral values and good behavior (e.g., school leaving certificate).
Duration:
- 3 years.
2. Diploma in Primary Teacher Education
Entry Requirements:
- Mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE or its equivalent.
- C (plain) in English & Kiswahili, Mathematics, one Humanities, and one Science.
- Candidates with disabilities: Minimum entry grade of C- in KCSE and C- in cluster subjects.
- Must cover recommended coursework hours, required practicum hours, and pass assessments as directed by KNEC.
- Required to undertake a three-month micro-teaching course.
Duration:
- 3 years.
3. Upgrade Diploma in Primary Teacher Education
Entry Requirements:
- Valid PTE certificate.
- Registered by the Teachers Service Commission.
- Course duration: 1500 hours.
- Fully residential course.
- Must take all courses specified in the upgrading program of Diploma in Primary Teacher Education.
- Required to undertake a teaching practicum of 300 hours.
- Must complete required coursework hours and pass stipulated assessments by KNEC.
- Evidence of adherence to positive morals and good behavior.
