Kiambu Water & Sewerage Company Limited was established in year 2006 as a company fully owned by the defunct Kiambu Municipal Council to ensure efficient and economical provision of water and sewerage services within Kiambu municipality and its environs. Kiambu Water Paybill Number 885 100
Following the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and implementation of the devolution schedule, the ownership of the company was transferred to the County Government of Kiambu.
The service area comprises of four wards, namely Ndumberi, Township, Riabai and Ting’ang’a. The total geographical area of jurisdiction is 105 square kilometers with a population of 145,698 according to the 2019 census.
Current water demand is 15,000 cubic meters per day.
The company has a staff strength of 63 (permanent and contract) and an annual turnover of Kes. 200 million (2020/2021 Financial Year).
Kiambu Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (KWCL) was incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap. 486) and is one of the many agents appointed by Athi Water Services Board (a state corporation) to ensure efficient and economical provision of water and sewerage services within Kiambu municipality.
