Changing a headlight bulb on a Chevrolet Silverado (1999–2007) is straightforward and can be done with basic tools. Follow these steps to safely and efficiently replace the bulb.
Part 1: Removing the Old Bulb
- Park and Prep the Vehicle
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface.
- Turn off the engine and headlights.
- Engage the parking brake.
- Open the Hood
- Pull the hood release lever inside the driver’s side footwell.
- Move to the front of the vehicle and lift the hood by sliding the latch under the hood.

Part 2: Installing the New Bulb
- Prepare the New Bulb
- Remove the bulb from its packaging.

- Insert the New Bulb
- Place the bulb into the headlight housing and twist it clockwise to secure it.
- Reconnect the Wiring Harness
- Attach the wiring harness to the new bulb. You should hear a click when it is properly connected.
- Reinstall the Headlight Assembly
- Align the assembly and loosely position it on the vehicle.
- Ensure no wires are pinched or trapped.
- Reinsert and Secure the Retainer Pins
- Insert the retainer pins through the headlight housing and vehicle body.
- Rotate the pins until they lock in place.
- Test the Headlights
- Turn the ignition to the “on” position and switch on the headlights.
- Verify that the new bulb works correctly.
- Close the Hood
- Lower the hood and ensure it latches securely.
- Turn Off the Lights
- Turn off the headlights and ignition.
