Adjusting a POC helmet ensures safety and comfort while riding. Follow these three methods to secure the helmet properly, tighten the chin straps, and adjust the visor height.
Method 1: Securing the Retention System
- Position the Helmet:
- Place the helmet on your head so it sits 1–2 finger-widths above your eyebrows. Ensure the helmet covers your forehead properly.
- Tighten the Retention System:
- Turn the rear dial clockwise to tighten the fit until the helmet feels snug but comfortable.
- Loosen the Retention System:
- If the helmet feels too tight, rotate the dial counterclockwise. Avoid loosening it so much that the helmet shifts while you shake your head.
- Test the Fit:
- Shake your head gently to ensure the helmet stays in place. If it moves, tighten the retention system further.
Method 2: Tightening the Chin Straps
- Wear the Helmet Correctly:
- Position the helmet low on your forehead, just above your eyebrows.
- Adjust the Side Sliders:
- Move the sliders so the straps form a “V” shape under your ears. Ensure the sliders are evenly positioned on both sides.
- Buckle the Chin Strap:
- Clip the strap securely under your chin.
- Tighten the Chin Strap:
- Pull the loose strap end through the slider until only 2–3 fingers can fit between the strap and your chin. Trim excess strap if necessary, leaving 1–2 inches for future adjustments.
Method 3: Changing the Visor Height
- Loosen the Visor:
- Locate the visor dial and turn it counterclockwise to loosen the visor.
- Adjust the Visor Position:
- Tilt the visor up for better visibility or lower it to block sunlight.
- Secure the Visor:
- Hold the visor in your desired position and turn the dial clockwise to lock it.
Tips for Best Results
- Choose the Right Size: Start with a helmet that fits your head size to avoid excessive adjustments.
- Regular Maintenance: Check and readjust straps periodically for a secure fit.
- Replace as Needed: Replace your helmet every 3 years or after an accident for optimal safety.
By following these steps, you can ensure your POC helmet is properly adjusted for safe and comfortable rides.
