Esther Chesire was a Kenyan law student attending Makerere University who tragically lost her life at the hands of agents working for Idi Amin.

Her niece, Belinda Chesire, bears a striking resemblance to Esther, both in appearance and in her own dedication to human rights and justice. This connection not only highlights the personal family tragedy but also underscores the lasting impact of historical events on individual lives and the collective memory of communities affected by past injustices.
A younger sister of politicians Reuben Chesire and Zipporah Kittony, Esther Chesire was a Second Year law student at Makerere University when she disappeared. She was picked up by Idi Amin’s security agents at Entebbe airport in March 1976. Her whereabouts remain unknown 37 years down the line.
