2013 Presidential Election Results saw Uhuru Kenyatta win with 50.07% after 12.2M votes cast and 85.91% turnout. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced the results of the March 4, 2013 presidential elections on the afternoon of March 9. The IEBC uploaded the summary results on their website on the same day and published them in the newspapers today.
12,221,053 votes were cast in the presidential election, out of the 14,352,533 registered voters; an outstanding 85.91% voter turnout. Homa Bay county registered the highest voter turnout 94.14% and the lowest was Kilifi 64.91%.
Uhuru Kenyatta (TNA of the Jubilee coalition) was declared the winner with 6,173,433 votes; 50.07% of the votes cast. He received more than 25% of the votes cast in 32 of the 47 counties (plus the diaspora voters) [0.07% of the votes cast is 8,555 voters].
Raila Odinga (ODM of CORD coalition) was the runner-up with 5,340,546 votes; 43.31% of the votes cast. He received more than 25% of the votes cast in 29 counties (plus the diaspora voters).
Musalia Mudavadi (UDFP of the Amani coalition) was third with 483,981 votes; 3.93% of the votes cast. He received more than 25% of the votes cast in 3 counties.
Mohamed Abduba Dida, was the surprise candidate of the elections, introduced to most Kenyans during the first presidential debate on Feb 11. Dida was fifth with 52,848 votes, ahead of better known Martha Karua, James ole Kiyiapi and Paul Muite. Dida received 13% of the votes cast in Isiolo and 9% in Garissa. Dida received approximately 20,000 votes less than Peter Kenneth.
There were 108,795 rejected votes; 0.88% of the votes cast.

2013 Presidential Election Results Sans Rejected Votes
On March 30, 2013 the Supreme Court of Kenya upheld the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) results of the March 4 presidential elections. Uhuru M. Kenyatta and William S. Ruto were subsequently sworn in as President and Deputy President on April 9.
Interestingly the Supreme Court ruled that in issue number (iii) the ” … rejected votes ought not to have been included in calculating the final tallies in favour of each presidential candidate.” The Supreme Court however declined the prayer of the petitioner; a re-computation of the percentages.
If the Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had excluded the rejected votes from the computation of the percentages of votes attained by the candidates the results. Uhuru Kenyatta would have attained 50.51% (6,173,433) of the valid votes cast (12,221,053); 0.51% is 60,906 votes.
Raila Odinga’s 5,340,546 votes would have accounted for 43.70% of the valid votes; the difference between the first two contestants was 832,887.
The other 6 presidential candidates votes would have represented 5.79% of valid votes cast.
