Dining out with friends or colleagues? Your Apple Watch makes it effortless to split a bill and calculate a tip in seconds. Thanks to the built-in Calculator app, all Apple Watch models let you determine how much each person should pay — including tips — without pulling out your phone or doing mental math.

Whether you’re splitting a group meal or figuring out the right gratuity for solo dining, the Apple Watch Calculator app is your wrist-side assistant.

Enable Tip Function on Apple Watch Calculator

Before using the tip and split features, make sure the Calculator is set to show the TIP button instead of the standard percentage (%) button.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Scroll down and tap Calculator.
  3. Select Tip Function under Layout.

Once set, the Calculator app will show a TIP button for quick access during your next meal.

Steps to Split a Bill and Tip on Apple Watch

  1. Launch the Calculator app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Enter the total amount of the bill using the number pad.
  3. Tap the TIP button (top-right corner, left of the divide sign).
  4. With the Tip field highlighted in green, rotate the Digital Crown to adjust the tip percentage.
  5. Tap People, then use the Digital Crown again to set the number of diners (up to 50).

Your Apple Watch will automatically:

  • Calculate the total including tip.
  • Show the amount owed per person based on the number of people.

Solo Dining?

No problem — leave the People field at 1 and just use the TIP slider to adjust your gratuity. The Calculator will show the updated total instantly.

Why Use the Apple Watch Calculator for Dining?

  • Quick tip calculations without reaching for your phone.
  • Precise bill splits for up to 50 people.
  • Perfect for group dinners, business lunches, or solo outings.
  • Accessible on all Apple Watch models.

Conclusion

The split a bill on Apple Watch feature in the Calculator app simplifies group payments and tipping at restaurants. With just a few taps and a twist of the Digital Crown, you’ll have everyone’s portion calculated — hassle-free and right from your wrist. Next time you’re out, let your Apple Watch do the math.
