Renowned journalist Smriti Vidyarthi has officially exited NTV after an illustrious 16-year career at Nation Media Group (NMG). During her final bulletin on Monday night, emotions ran high as colleagues bid her farewell, acknowledging her professionalism and dedication to journalism.
A Grateful Goodbye
In a heartfelt message shared on her social media, Smriti expressed gratitude to her viewers and the organization, writing:
“Sixteen and a half years of service to the Nation Media Group and to the nation at large. Thank you for trusting me.”
Throughout her tenure, she wore many hats, serving as a news editor, anchor, and host of NTV Wild Talk, a show that highlighted Kenya’s diverse wildlife and conservation efforts.

A Changing Media Landscape
Her departure comes amid major restructuring at NMG, aligning with shifts in the modern media landscape. While her next career move remains undisclosed, her exit follows a series of notable resignations and arrivals at the media house.
Among other recent departures at NTV:
✅ Roselyne Obala, former Political and Assignment Editor, has left to join the Ministry of Interior as Communications Adviser and Director to Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
✅ Veteran broadcaster Eric Latiff has returned to NMG after leaving Spice FM, where he worked for nearly four and a half years.
Meanwhile, NTV has welcomed back journalist Janet Mbugua, who is making her highly anticipated return to television after an eight-year hiatus. NMG’s Head of Broadcasting, Simaloi Dajom, praised Mbugua’s ability to connect with audiences, signaling a new era for the station.
As Smriti Vidyarthi embarks on a new chapter, her legacy as one of Kenya’s most accomplished news anchors remains undeniable.
