Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced a 5% discount for motorists who renew or subscribe to seasonal parking permits between January 15 and February 14, 2026. This initiative aims to incentivize Nairobi residents to regularize their parking subscriptions early in the year.
In a public notice, Governor Sakaja emphasized the convenience of the payment process, stating that motorists can pay through USSD code *647#, visit any County Customer Service Centre, or make payments online. This flexibility ensures that payments are quick and easy, encouraging more people to take advantage of the discount.
The daily parking rates in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), Westlands, and Upper Hill are set at approximately Ksh 300, with lower charges of around Ksh 150 for less congested areas. The county also outlined rates for private on-street seasonal parking for larger vehicles like lorries, trailers, and non-PSV buses.
For 2023, the approved seasonal parking charges are as follows:
- Ksh 12,000 for one month
- Ksh 32,000 for three months
- Ksh 60,000 for six months
- Ksh 112,000 for twelve months
Additionally, for those seeking reserved private parking slots measuring 2.5 by 5 meters, an annual fee of Ksh 275,000 applies. Daily reserved parking in these areas is charged at Ksh 1,500.
This early-bird discount is part of the county’s ongoing efforts to streamline parking management and improve traffic flow within Nairobi.
