How to Register a Business on Google

Registering your business on Google is a straightforward process that helps your business appear in Google searches and on Google Maps. Follow these steps to get your business listed:

Step 1: Go to Google My Business

1. Open a web browser on your PC or Mac.
2. Go to Google My Business.

Step 2: Start Registration

3. Click “Start Now”. This green button is located in the upper-right corner of the page.

Step 3: Enter Business Name

4. Type the name of your business in the provided field and click “Next”.

Step 4: Enter Location Information

5. Fill out your business address:
   • Select your country from the pulldown menu.
   • Enter your street address.
   • Type your city.
   • Select your state from the pulldown menu.
   • Enter your zip code (if in the US).
   • Check the box if you deliver goods to customers.
   • Click “Next”.

Step 5: Choose Business Category

6. Type your business category in the provided field. As you type, a list of matching categories will appear. Select the correct category and click “Next”.

Step 6: Enter Contact Information

7. Provide your phone number and website:
   • Enter your phone number (select the country code if applicable).
   • Type the URL of your website.
   • Click “Next”.

Step 7: Stay Updated

8. Select whether you want to receive tips from Google:
   • Click the radial button next to “Yes” or “No”.
   • Click “Next”.

Step 8: Confirm Authorization

9. Click “Continue” to confirm that you are authorized to manage the business listing.

Step 9: Verify Your Business

10. Select the verification method:
    • Click “Mail”. Google will send a postcard with a 5-digit verification code to your business address.

Step 10: Enter Verification Code

11. Wait for the postcard to arrive. This usually takes a few days.
12. Go to Google My Business and log in.
13. Click “Verify location” in the left sidebar.
14. Enter the 5-digit code you received on the postcard.
15. Click “Verify” to complete the verification process.

Once verified, you can fully manage your business listing, including updating your information, adding photos, responding to reviews, and more.
