In Qatar, photographing road accidents by unauthorized individuals has been declared illegal, with violators facing potential imprisonment and fines. According to Captain Khalid Abdullah Al Kuwari from the General Directorate of Traffic, only those directly involved in an accident may photograph it for submission through the Metrash 2 app. Under Article 333 of the Qatari Penal Code, unauthorized intrusion into someone’s private life, such as photographing accidents without consent, can result in up to two years imprisonment or a fine of up to QAR 10,000.

The law aims to protect victims’ privacy and prevent potential harm, particularly when injuries or deaths are involved. Captain Al Kuwari also emphasized that awareness efforts should be left to specialized organizations, and reporting traffic violations should focus on photographing the license plate and damage, not individuals.
