Samsung Electronics has officially started rolling out One UI 8.5 to several flagship smartphones and tablets, expanding availability of its latest Android software version after an extended beta testing period. One UI is a user interface (UI) developed by Samsung Electronics for its mobile, computing devices and TVs, including Android-based devices released since late 2016 or early 2017 running Android 9 “Pie” and later. It is the successor to Samsung Experience.
The rollout began in South Korea on May 6 and is expected to expand to additional regions over the coming days and weeks if no major issues are identified.
One UI 8.5 Reaches Galaxy Flagships
Samsung confirmed that One UI 8.5 is now available for the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6 and selected Galaxy Tab devices.
The update also extends to the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S10 series.

One UI 8.5 Beta Testing Lasted Months
Samsung has been testing One UI 8.5 on older premium devices since December. The lengthy beta programme aimed to improve stability and performance before the wider public release.
The software first launched with the Galaxy S26 Ultra and the broader Galaxy S26 lineup earlier this year.
Samsung Continues Software Expansion
The release reflects Samsung’s continued focus on long-term software support for flagship devices. The company has increasingly accelerated Android update rollouts across its premium smartphone and tablet ecosystem.
Although Samsung has not detailed all changes included in One UI 8.5, the update is expected to bring interface refinements, performance optimisations and broader system improvements.
Regional Rollout Underway
As with previous Samsung software releases, One UI 8.5 will roll out gradually by market and carrier. Users in regions outside South Korea may experience delays depending on local testing and approval processes.
Samsung typically phases software deployments to monitor for stability problems before expanding globally.
Competition in Android Ecosystem
The One UI 8.5 release comes as smartphone manufacturers continue competing on software support and ecosystem integration alongside hardware innovation.
Extended update commitments have become a major selling point in the premium Android market, particularly as consumers keep devices longer.

Outlook for One UI 8.5
Samsung is expected to continue expanding One UI 8.5 availability across more devices in the coming weeks. Additional mid-range Galaxy smartphones could also receive the update later this year.
The rollout reinforces Samsung’s position as one of the fastest Android manufacturers in delivering major software upgrades to flagship devices.
