Kenya Wicks is a U.S. Army veteran and seasoned public servant who now represents Georgia’s 34th Senate district as a Democratic State Senator. Her extensive military background and educational grounding in environmental science position her as a dedicated advocate for veterans, families, and underserved communities across Georgia.
Born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, Kenya Wicks served in the U.S. Army for three decades, rising through the ranks to retire as a major. She enlisted early and climbed to sergeant first class before commissioning through Officer Candidate School in 2008. Two years later, she earned a Bachelor of Science in environmental science from the University of Alabama. Her transition from military to public office came during the 2024 Georgia State Senate election, where she defeated Valencia Stovall in the Democratic primary runoff and then Republican Andrew E. Honeycutt in the general election.
Today, Wicks brings military discipline, scientific insight, and civic passion to the Georgia State Senate. She is a mother of three and continues to give back as a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), demonstrating her enduring commitment to justice and child welfare.
