Early Life and Education

Kayvo Kforce was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and grew up in a musical and culturally vibrant environment. While details of his early education remain private, his passion for rap and poetry began in his teenage years. By the late 2000s, he had established himself in Nairobi’s underground hip hop scene, gaining attention for his raw lyricism and confidence on stage.

Career and Rise in Music

Kayvo officially entered the professional hip hop scene in 2008, releasing tracks that quickly positioned him among the country’s emerging rap voices. Known for his bold approach, he courted controversy in 2011 with his track “Death Wish” and later “Kill A King”, a diss record aimed at fellow rappers, which cemented his reputation as a fearless lyricist.

In 2014, he teamed up with Davinci for the single “Walai”, followed by collaborations such as “Iz You Down” with ZJ Heno, Khaligraph Jones, and Lon Jon, and “Glory to the King” with Maluda. His consistency made him a familiar name in Kenyan hip hop circles.

A major career highlight came when Kayvo was featured on Coke Studio Africa’s Cypher, where he performed alongside continental stars M.I Abaga (Nigeria), Nazizi (Kenya), Khaligraph Jones (Kenya), and Bamboo (Kenya).

In 2021, he released his most ambitious project yet, the album Namba Nane Drill, which paid homage to Dandora (known by its slang name Namba Nane). The album fused Kenyan hip hop and drill music, cementing his role as both a pioneer and innovator in the genre.

Mentorship and Influence

Apart from his career, Kayvo is admired for his youth mentorship initiatives. He has worked in Dandora, offering guidance to aspiring rappers and young people in disadvantaged neighborhoods. His mission has been to prove that hip hop can serve as a tool for empowerment, creativity, and community change.
