Since 2022, John Makali, a politician from Ford-K in Kenya, has served as the MP for the Kanduyi Constituency.
Up until 2022, when he moved to FORD KENYA under Moses Masika Wetangula, he was an ODM member.From 2013 to 2017, he served as the first speaker of the Bungoma County Assembly. He then ran for the Kanduyi parliamentary seat on the ODM ticket, defeating Edwin Watenya Sifuna, the current senator from Nairobi and the secretary general of the party, in the nomination process. However, he lost to Ambassador Wafula Wamunyinyi, the leader of the DAP K party, in the August elections and then lost to Moses Wetangula in the FORD under Wetangula, whom he defeated in the 2022 Parliamentary race.
He practices law in Bungoma, Kanduyi, Moi Avenue, under the name John Makali and Company’s advocate. He is an advocate/lawyer of the Kenyan High Court. For over ten years, he also presided over the Bungoma chapter’s Law Society.He is a former student of Musikoma Primary School and The Mighty Bungoma High School class of 1985, where he excelled academically and eventually joined St. Patrick’s Institute to improve his studies before enrolling at the Metropolitan University of Nairobi to seek a legal degree. Born into a family of eleven siblings, I grew up on the banks of the River Khalaba in Mukhaweli Village, Kanduyi Constituency.His parents, the late ELIZABETH ACHUPA and MARTINI OKWISIA MAKALI, died young.
