Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) provides an opportunity for students to change their courses if they meet specific criteria. The process is designed to ensure that students are placed in courses where they have the best chances of success, based on their academic qualifications and interests. Below is a detailed guide on how to navigate the change of course procedure at JKUAT.

  • Payment Procedure

Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Your Course – JKUAT Change of Course Procedure

  1. Access the KUCCPS Portal:
    • Open your web browser and go to KUCCPS Student Portal.
  2. Login to Your Account:
    • Use your KCSE index number as the username.
    • Enter the exam year.
    • Use your birth certificate number or KCPE index number (as used during KCSE exam registration) as the initial password.
  3. Select JKUAT and View Available Courses:
    • After logging in, click on the “Institutions” tab.
    • Select JKUAT from the list of institutions.
    • A list of all courses available at JKUAT will be displayed.
  4. Check Your Qualification:
    • Click on the course you are interested in transferring to.
    • Your cluster weight for the course will be displayed on the last column on the far left side.
    • Compare your cluster weight with the 2021 cut-off points displayed in the first column.
    • If your cluster weight is equal to or greater than the 2021 cut-off and you meet the required cluster subjects, you qualify for the course.
    • If your cluster weight is less than the 2021 cut-off or you do not meet the cluster subjects, you do not qualify and should not request a change to that course.
  5. Apply for Change of Course:
    • Once you confirm your eligibility, go to JKUAT Admission Portal.
    • Login using the same credentials.
    • Follow the instructions to apply online for a change of course.

Important Considerations

  • Accurate Details: Ensure that all details entered (KCSE index number, exam year, KUCCPS password) are correct and accurate.
  • Confirmation of Cut-off Points: Confirm the current GOK/KUCCPS cut-off points for the desired course, as applications can only be made once.
  • Eligibility: The change of course is applicable only for GOK/KUCCPS to GOK/KUCCPS and GOK/KUCCPS to self-sponsored students. Self-sponsored to self-sponsored applications should be done manually through the Dean of School.
  • Application Period: The portal is open from Friday, 2nd September 2021 to Wednesday, 7th September 2022.
  • Capacity: The capacity per program will determine the number of additional students that can be accommodated.
  • Final Decision: The decision made by the Deans Committee after the application process is final.
  • Non-Refundable Fee: A non-refundable fee of Ksh. 1000 is required for the application.

Payment Procedure

  1. Access M-PESA:
    • Go to the M-PESA menu on your phone.
    • Select “Lipa Na M-PESA” and then the Paybill option.
    • Enter the Paybill number 951200.
  2. Enter Account Number and Amount:
    • Enter the account number generated from the system (available after login and viewing payment details).
    • Enter the required amount (Ksh. 1000).
  3. Complete the Transaction:
    • Enter the M-PESA generated code back into the system to complete your application.

By following these steps, students can efficiently navigate the process of changing their courses at JKUAT, ensuring they are placed in programs that best match their qualifications and career aspirations. For further assistance, students can contact the Registrar (Academic) via email at [email protected].
