  • Long-nose pliers
  • Scissors
  • Electrical tape
  • Command adhesive products
  • Auxiliary input kit compatible with 2003–2007 Honda Accord

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle

  1. Park the car and turn off the engine.
  2. Engage the emergency brake.

Step 2: Access the Shift Knob Area

  1. Move the shift knob back fully (not in “P”).
  2. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to remove the plastic cap near the shift knob.
  3. Press down the exposed tab with the screwdriver and slide the knob all the way back.

Step 3: Remove the Shift Knob Cover

  1. Pry up the cover surrounding the shift knob, starting with the front corners near the “P” symbol.
  2. Carefully pull the cover up to release it from its six attachment points.

Step 4: Remove Screws Around the Shift Knob

  1. Locate and unscrew the two corner screws near the shift knob using a Phillips screwdriver.
  2. Use long-nose pliers to remove the screws without dropping them into the wiring section.

Step 5: Access the Left Compartment

  1. Open the left compartment and remove the rubber tray using a flat-blade screwdriver.
  2. Unscrew the two screws at the back of the compartment and pull it out to remove.

Step 6: Remove the Power Outlet Wire

  1. Disconnect the power outlet wire by pressing the button at the back of the connector and pulling it out.
  2. Set aside the two-section compartment.

Step 7: Remove the Largest Compartment

  1. Unscrew the two bottom corner screws of the large compartment.
  2. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry out the compartment by applying pressure at the seam under the stereo.
  3. Pull the compartment out completely, giving access to the wiring underneath the stereo.

Step 8: Install the Auxiliary Input

  1. Attach the auxiliary input box to the side of the compartments using Command adhesive products.
  2. Pass the auxiliary wire behind the glove compartment and into the stereo wiring section.
    • Open the glove compartment fully by pushing in the flexible sides.
    • Pass the wire through the hole behind the glove compartment.

Step 9: Connect the Wiring

  1. Pull the auxiliary wire into the stereo wiring section.
  2. Connect the wire to the Y cable extension.
  3. Attach the Y cable’s other end to the white connector under the stereo.
  4. Secure the wires with electrical tape to prevent interference.

Step 10: Test the Auxiliary Input

  1. Turn on the car radio and press the “Aux” button.
  2. Check the display for “CD-C.”
  3. Play audio from your device to ensure the connection works.

Step 11: Reassemble the Interior

  1. Reattach the largest compartment and secure it with screws.
  2. Reconnect the power outlet wire to the two-section compartment and reinstall it.
  3. Replace the rubber tray in the left compartment.
  4. Screw the final two screws near the shift knob and reinstall the plastic cover.
  5. Move the shift knob back into “P” and replace the small cap.

Tips for Installation

  • Use magnetic screwdrivers to avoid losing screws in tight spaces.
  • Be gentle while prying and pulling plastic components to avoid cracks or damage.
  • Keep a pair of long-nose pliers handy to retrieve screws from hard-to-reach places.

Final Thoughts

With these steps, you can successfully add an auxiliary input to your 2003–2007 Honda Accord and enjoy enhanced audio capabilities. Always take your time during installation and double-check your work to ensure everything functions correctly. Happy listening!
