Brief History of Hamz Nakivubo Stadium
Hamz Nakivubo Stadium, originally known as Nakivubo Stadium, is a multi-purpose venue located at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds in Kampala, Uganda. The stadium has a seating capacity of 35,000 and is owned by the Politics of Uganda. It was initially opened on April 1, 1926, and has undergone several renovations in 1954, 2013, and 2017.
The latest extensive renovations were spearheaded by businessman Hamis Kiggundu in collaboration with the Ugandan government, elevating the stadium to meet international standards. The construction cost for these upgrades was approximately US$200 million. The stadium is home to Simba FC and can be reached at +256 704 141076.
