Google has started rolling out the Pixel May update to supported Pixel smartphones and tablets, introducing a series of bug fixes and system improvements alongside the latest Android security patch.
Google Pixel is a brand of portable consumer electronic devices that is developed by Google that runs the Pixel version of the Android operating system or the ChromeOS operating system. The primary line of Pixel products consists of Android-powered smartphones, produced since October 2016 as the replacement for the older Nexus line, with the current models being the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Pixel 10a. The Pixel brand also includes laptop and tablet computers, as well as several accessories, and was originally introduced in February 2013 with the Chromebook Pixel.
The update, identified by build number CP1A.260505.005, is currently available for devices starting from the Pixel 7a and newer models, including the Pixel Tablet.
Pixel May Update Targets Charging Issues
According to Google’s official changelog, the Pixel May update resolves a problem affecting wireless charging speeds when battery levels reached between 75% and 80%.
Users had previously reported slower charging performance within that range, particularly during wireless charging sessions.
Camera and Display Fixes Included
The Pixel May update also addresses issues linked to the camera application. Google said the update fixes cases where the camera could freeze while recording video or adjusting zoom levels.
In addition, the company resolved display-related problems that caused flickering white dots, visual noise and fuzzy or unresponsive screens on some devices.
The fixes are intended to improve overall stability and usability across affected Pixel models.
Keyboard Stability Improvements
Google included corrections for a software bug that caused the on-screen keyboard to freeze or display incorrectly during use.
The issue had affected typing responsiveness on certain devices running recent Android builds.
Devices Receiving Pixel May Update
The Pixel May update is rolling out to multiple devices across Google’s smartphone and tablet lineup. Supported models include the Pixel 7a, Pixel 8 series, Pixel Fold, Pixel 9 series, Pixel 10 lineup and the Pixel Tablet.
The newly released Pixel 10a is also included in the update cycle.
Google Warns Pixel 10 Users
Google issued an additional notice for Pixel 10 series users, stating that the update contains a bootloader modification that prevents devices from rolling back to earlier Android 16 versions.
The restriction means users who install the update may no longer be able to downgrade to previous software builds.
Outlook for Pixel Software Support
The Pixel May update continues Google’s monthly software maintenance cycle focused on security patches and device stability improvements.
Although the update does not introduce major new features, it reflects ongoing efforts to address user-reported bugs and maintain long-term software support across the Pixel ecosystem.
