Early Life and Education:

  • Gina Din was born to Shamsu and Malek Din, who owned the Sportsman Arms Hotel in Nanyuki, Kenya.
  • She learned the importance of client relationships from her parents at a young age.
  • Gina Din’s first job was managing a disco night at her parents’ hotel at the age of 15, which provided her with pocket money.
  • She graduated with a degree in journalism from the London School of Journalism in 1985.

Career:

  • Gina Din started her career as a communications manager at Barclays Bank of Kenya in 1985, where she worked for 14 years.
  • In 1997, she founded Gina Din Corporate Communications after leaving Barclays Bank. Barclays Bank was her first client, providing essential support in the early stages of her business.
  • The agency quickly grew and secured clients such as Old Mutual, Association of Kenyan Insurers, CIC Insurance, Kenya Commercial Bank, Safaricom, Kenya Red Cross, and Kenya Airways.
  • Gina Din Corporate Communications gained acclaim for its crisis management during the 2007 Kenya Airways plane crash in Duala, Cameroon.
  • The agency won several awards, including the Marketing and Public Relations (MPR) gold award for its work with LG and the PR Event of the Year award from the Public Relations Society of Kenya.

  • In 2013, Gina Din Corporate Communications partnered with Weber Shandwick, a leading global PR firm, to expand their presence in Africa.
