In 1979, President Daniel arap Moi appointed Oginga Odinga as the chairman of the Cotton Lint and Seed Marketing Board. This marked Odinga’s return to a government position after a gap since 1966. Later in 1980, Odinga would also rejoin the Kenya African National Union (KANU), the ruling political party at the time.
Additionally, Peter Oloo-Aringo, who was an ally of Oginga Odinga, also secured a cabinet post around the same time. These appointments were significant in the political landscape of Kenya during President Moi’s administration, reflecting shifts and alignments within the ruling party and government leadership.
