Build Your House Exhibition (BYH) 2023, the must-visit homebuilding event for Qataris to seek insight, innovation, and inspiration, is proud to announce the continued patronage from Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al-Thani. Build Your House Exhibition 2023 invites consultants, contractors, and suppliers to an enriched and expanded event
The four-day event (15 – 18 May 2023) will be inaugurated by the Minister of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Mr Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC).
The fourth edition of this Qatar-created exhibition is set to connect Qatari visitors to an enhanced array of services and products from consultants, contractors, suppliers – smart home and general service industry leaders. In addition, attendees can take advantage of vital knowledge sharing, and practical workshops from government entities and learn about the latest trends and technology.
With an expanded event capacity, which sees exhibition space increase by 50 percent and another day added, visitors now have access to more suppliers and contractors. In addition, they have the opportunity to participate in more live talks and Q&As, and gain assistance from the free self-build course.
Seeking to reinforce the resilience of the construction industry and aid Qatar towards its ambitious National Vision, Build Your House Exhibition 2023 has received continued support from government entities and private sector businesses. This year, Build Your House Exhibition announces sponsorship from Official Partner: Ashghal; Sustainability Partner: Kahramaa, Official Airline: Qatar Airways, Supported by: Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Municipality, Civil Defence and Qatar Chamber; Gold Sponsors: Al Hattab Holding; Conference Partner: American Institute of Architects (AIA MEA). More sponsors will be announced soon.
Mr. Muhammad Ali Al-Mohannadi, Director of Public Relations, General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) said: “Kahramaa are delighted to continue our support as Sustainability Partner. Build Your House Exhibition 2023 is an event that enables us to champion sustainability in Qatar’s housing and construction sector.
“We are particularly keen to advocate and encourage events such as Build Your House Exhibition 2023. It is a vital forum that brings together government entities and private sector companies and plays an active role in supporting the national economy and contributing to the great urban renaissance in the State of Qatar,” he added.
Speaking about Build Your House Exhibition 2023, Mr. Rawad Sleem, Co-Founder and General Manager of NeXTfairs for Exhibitions and Conferences, said: “We are highly appreciative and thankful for the continued patronage and support of Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, H.E. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz Al-Thani. His prolonged backing is a testament to the impact that Build Your House Exhibition has managed to achieve year-upon-year towards boosting industry recovery and growth and enabling local consultants, contractors and suppliers to build homes fit for the future.”
Qatar is set to expand its residential construction and investment in infrastructure. At the same time, the country’s economic outlook is buoyant. The recent recovery of global energy prices combined with the decreased costs of projects related to the World Cup has positively impacted Qatar’s national budget. As a result, total annual revenue is estimated at QR228bn ($62.64 billion), and spending at QR199bn, with a budget surplus of QR29bn. In addition, the national budget also revealed that the salaries of Qatari nationals would rise by 7 per cent, increasing their purchasing power.
He added, “We’re pleased to offer an expanded edition of Build Your House Exhibition, which presents an exceptional opportunity for exhibitors to connect to a niche and fully primed market. Therefore, it’s the perfect time for local citizens to launch their homebuilding project and for exhibitors to reach a precious audience.”
The economic future for Qatar appears bright, as 2023 will be an abundant year thanks to increased revenues and further national investment. In a statement about Qatar’s 2023 budget, Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, revealed that the increase in public revenues would likely be due to the adoption of an average oil price of $65 per barrel for 2023, up from the $55 per barrel planned in the 2022 budget. As a result, non-oil revenue is anticipated to stay constant at QR42bn, and oil and gas revenue is projected to increase 20.8 per cent over the budgeted amount for 2022.
In a recent interview, Ashghal President, Dr Eng Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, stated that approximately 48,000 citizens’ land plots would be developed during the next five years. A clear demonstration that lands for Qatari nationals are a priority for the government. According to statistics, Qatar’s construction market was valued at around $46.8bn in 2021. The market is projected to achieve an AAGR of over 3 per cent from 2023 to 2026. As a result of its commitment to hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, its work towards the National Vision 2030, and its ambition to host the Asian Games in 2030, Qatar is undertaking an impressive array of infrastructure and industrial projects.
Qatar has recently turned its attention towards the private sector to aid infrastructure development. To help achieve the objectives of encouraging broader private-sector participation in developing Qatar’s economy, the government has adopted a public-private partnership (PPP) program for public infrastructure projects. Implementing projects through a PPP program increases the participation of the private sector in development projects and supports projects connected to the National Vision 2030.
A local success story, Build Your House Exhibition 2023 is a pioneering platform that brings industry professionals and homebuyers together to stimulate the construction sector in Qatar. At last year’s show, suppliers signed an estimated QR453m in deals. It has rapidly become a springboard for connectivity and collaboration, enabling local SMEs and international industry experts to showcase their services to consumers in Qatar and empowering Qatari citizens to fully utilize the government’s provisions for land development, housing vouchers, and loans.
While Build Your House Exhibition 2023 – BYH 2023 continues to help businesses flourish, its annual competition for VCUarts University’s interior design students allows three shortlisted winners to gain vital industry exposure as they showcase their designs at the exhibition.
