A Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), also known as a pure electric vehicle, only-electric vehicle, fully electric vehicle, or all-electric vehicle, is an electric vehicle (EV) that solely relies on the chemical energy stored in rechargeable battery packs for propulsion, without any alternative propulsion sources like hydrogen fuel cells or internal combustion engines. BEVs are propelled by electric motors and controlled by motor controllers, eschewing internal combustion engines (ICEs). They obtain all their energy from the battery packs and, as a result, do not have an internal combustion engine, fuel cell, or fuel tank.
