This online platform allows you to handle various services such as applying for driving licenses, good conduct certificates, business registration, and more. Here’s how you can apply for a birth certificate through eCitizen, including the required documents and steps involved.

Requirements to Apply for a Birth Certificate on eCitizen

To apply for a birth certificate online, ensure you have the following:

  • An eCitizen Account
  • Birth Notification
  • Scanned copy of the birth notification
  • Scanned copy of identification documents for applicants above 18 years (ID, Passport)
  • Scanned copy of the parent’s identification documents
  • Application fee of Kshs. 180

Steps to Apply for a Birth Certificate on eCitizen

  1. Create or Log in to Your eCitizen Account:
    • Open your browser and go to the eCitizen portal: eCitizen
    • Click on “Login” if you already have an account. If not, click on “Create an Account” and follow the prompts to set up your account.
  2. Access Civil Registration Services:
    • Once logged in, navigate to the dashboard and scroll down to find “Civil Registration Services” or directly visit: Civil Registration Services
  3. Select the Birth Certificate Service:
    • Click on “Current Birth Certificate” and then click on “Next”.
  4. Choose the Type of Application:
    • Select the type of application: “New Birth Certificate” or “Replacement”.
  5. Select Pick-Up Location:
    • Choose a convenient pick-up location from the available options (Huduma GPO, ACK Bishop House, Huduma Makadara, Huduma Kibera, Huduma City Square, Huduma Eastleigh).
  6. Enter Residential Address:
    • Fill in your place of residence.
  7. Fill in Required Details:
    • Provide all necessary information about the birth and click “Next”.
  8. Upload Required Documents:
    • Upload the scanned copies of the birth notification and the identification documents as required.
  9. Pay the Application Fee:
    • Complete the application by paying the required fee of Kshs. 180 through the provided payment methods.
  10. Submit and Wait for Communication:
    • After submission, wait for an SMS notification informing you when the birth certificate is ready for collection.

Notes:

  • The online birth certificate application service is currently available only for births and deaths that occurred in Nairobi County.
  • Collection of birth certificates is physical at the selected pick-up locations.

By following these steps, you can efficiently apply for a birth certificate through the eCitizen portal without the need for multiple visits to government offices. This process ensures that your application is handled swiftly and you can collect your birth certificate once it is ready.
