You can send money from Kenya to Egypt on mobile using global money transfer apps like WorldRemit, Mukuru, and MoneyGram, and through partners of M-PESA Global. Direct mobile money transfers from M-PESA to an Egyptian mobile money service (like Vodafone Cash) are not available, but you can send funds for cash pickup or bank transfers.
Using M-PESA Global with Partners
You can use your M-PESA account to fund transfers through M-PESA’s international partners, allowing the recipient to collect cash at an agent location or receive a bank transfer in Egypt.

- Navigate to the “Transact” section and select “Global”.
- Select a partner that serves Egypt, such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
- Choose the option for cash pickup or bank transfer and enter the recipient’s details (full name as it appears on their ID document, phone number, and bank details if applicable).
- Enter the amount in KES. The app will display the exchange rate and total cost.
- Confirm the transaction with your M-PESA PIN.
- If sending for cash pickup, share the resulting Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) with the recipient so they can collect the cash in Egypt.
Via USSD (*334# or *840#)
- Dial *334# or *840# on your Safaricom line.
- Select “Send Money”, then “M-PESA Global”.
- Choose a partner like Western Union or MoneyGram.
- Follow the prompts to enter the recipient’s information and transfer amount.
- Review and confirm the transaction details with your M-PESA PIN.
Using Dedicated Money Transfer Apps
Third-party apps offer a direct way to manage the entire transfer process, including paying via debit/credit card or bank transfer from Kenya. These services may also support transfers to local mobile wallets like Vodafone Cash.
- WorldRemit: Offers transfers to bank accounts, mobile money accounts, and cash pickup locations in Egypt. You can use the WorldRemit App to manage the process and compare exchange rates.
- Mukuru: Offers a reliable way to send money for instant cash collection at their partner locations in Egypt or potentially directly to a mobile wallet via their app or website. You can use the Mukuru App to initiate a transfer.
- MoneyGram: Facilitates transfers to thousands of cash pickup locations or directly to bank accounts in Egypt via their MoneyGram App.
Recipients in Egypt generally receive funds in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) to their bank accounts or via cash pickup.
