  • Reliable internet access, a mobile phone number linked to your ID, and a valid email address.

How to Register for SHA Online: 7 Easy Steps

Step 1: Visit the SHA Website

Navigate to the official SHA website at https://sha.go.ke. On the homepage, locate the “Register Individual” button and click it to start the registration process.


Step 2: Register for Universal Healthcare and SHA with Afya Yangu

On the next page, select “Proceed” to register for both Universal Healthcare and SHA through the Afya Yangu platform. This is a one-time process that provides access to both services.


Step 3: Create an Afya Yangu Account

You’ll need to create an account by entering:

  • Your ID type (Kenyan Citizen, Foreign Resident, or Refugee).
  • Your ID number.
  • Your phone number.

Click “Proceed”, and an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your phone. Enter the OTP in the space provided and click “Proceed” again. Congratulations, your Afya Yangu account is now set up!


Step 4: Set Up Your PIN

After creating your account, you’ll be prompted to set a 4-digit PIN. This will serve as your login password. Choose a secure PIN and click “Proceed.”


Step 5: Complete Your SHA Registration

You’ll be redirected to the SHA registration page, where instructions about the necessary documents and requirements are displayed. Review the details and click “Continue Registration” to proceed.


Step 6: Fill in Your Personal Details

The registration form is divided into three parts:

  1. Personal Information:
    • Upload your most recent passport photo.
    • Select employment and civil status.
    • Indicate if you have any disabilities.
  2. Contact Details:
    • Enter your phone number, email address, and current residence (County, Sub-county, and Ward).
    • Your primary care network will auto-generate based on your location.
  3. Confirmation:
    • Review your details for accuracy.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions by checking the boxes provided.
    • Click “Submit.”

Step 7: Receive Confirmation

You will receive a confirmation message stating that your registration was successful. This means you’re now officially registered with SHA and can start enjoying its benefits.


Other Ways to Register for SHA

If online registration isn’t an option, you can register through:

  1. USSD Code: Dial *147# and follow the prompts to complete your registration.
  2. Physical Registration: Visit Huduma Centres or authorized SHA agents with your ID, Alien ID, or Refugee ID for assistance.
