Rising Star in Motorsport

Though best known for his business ties to the Ruparelia Group, Rajiv was also a passionate and accomplished rally driver.

He joined Uganda’s local rally scene in 2019 and immediately made headlines for his speed, precision, and aggressive driving style. Within a short span, he registered multiple victories and was considered one of Uganda’s fastest rising talents in motorsport.

In 2022, Rajiv took a sabbatical from competitive rallying, but remained deeply involved in the sport.

He served as Patron of the Central Motorsport Club (CMC) and held a seat in the National Motorsports Assembly, the governing structure of motorsport in Uganda.

Legacy Beyond the Track

Off the race track, Rajiv was an active businessman and a key figure within his family’s investment empire. He was being groomed to eventually take over several portfolios within the Ruparelia Group, which spans banking, real estate, education, and hospitality.

His charisma, leadership, and versatility made him a recognizable face in both boardrooms and rally circuits.

Tributes Pour In

Following the confirmation of his death, tributes have poured in from rally clubs, corporate leaders, and government officials, all praising Rajiv’s ambition and spirit.

Motorsport Uganda released a brief statement saying:

“We are deeply saddened by the untimely death of Rajiv Ruparelia. He brought life, energy, and excellence to the sport. Uganda has lost not just a driver, but a visionary.”

Conclusion

Rajiv Ruparelia was more than just the son of a tycoon — he was a trailblazer in motorsport, an aspiring business leader, and an inspiration to Ugandan youth. His untimely death at 35 leaves a void that will be hard to fill.

He is survived by his family, friends, and a nation in mourning.
