Peacock is set to hike the prices of its Premium and Premium Plus subscriptions by $2 monthly. The new rates will kick in on July 18th for newcomers and August 17th for current users. Interestingly, this timing matches Peacock’s price adjustment from last year.
Following the increase, the cost for Peacock Premium will rise to $8 monthly, while the ad-free version, Premium Plus, will go up to $14 monthly. The yearly rates will also see a $20 increase, setting the Premium and Premium Plus plans at $80 and $140, respectively.
This price hike coincides closely with the 2024 Summer Olympics starting on July 26th. It’s worth noting that the Olympics will be broadcast on NBC and Telemundo, which are available for free with a TV antenna, missing only a few events.
This marks the second consecutive year that Peacock has raised its prices around the same dates, July 18th and August 17th. While this move has been unpopular, it remains consistent.
Looking ahead to 2025, it’s uncertain whether Peacock will implement another increase, though if it does, it’s likely to be around the same time of year. Peacock has consistently gained 10 million U.S. subscribers annually since its inception in 2021. In its Q1 2024 earnings call, Comcast announced a 54% revenue increase for Peacock, totaling $1.1 billion.
For those about to renew or join, the new prices start on July 18th, just in time for the Olympics. For existing subscribers, the change comes into effect on August 17th. Check your internet, cellular, or cable plan for any perks that might include a free Peacock subscription. And remember, the Olympics can be watched for free with a TV antenna.
