This step-by-step guide explains how to obtain a birth certificate in Togo, what documents are required, and what to do if you’re applying from abroad.

Application Procedure

  1. Visit Your Local Civil Registry Office
Go to the local city hall or civil status office where the birth was originally registered.
  2. Bring Valid Identification
Civil registry staff will request valid ID to confirm your identity and your relationship to the person named on the certificate.
  3. Provide Key Details
When making your request, be sure to give accurate details to help locate the record:
    • Full name on the certificate
    • Place and date of birth
    • Parent(s)’ name(s)
  4. Pay the Application Fee
Submit your application and pay the required fee. The registrar will let you know when to return to collect the document.

If You Are Outside Togo

You can apply through the nearest Embassy of Togo. Contact the consular services section of the embassy in your country. They will help you complete the application process and forward your request to the appropriate authority in Togo.
