Makueni Boys High School is a well-established national boys’ boarding school located in Makueni County, Kenya. Founded in 1966, the school was initially established to provide education for children from families who had settled in the region from other parts of Ukambani. The school’s foundation was laid in 1965 when the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, then the Vice President, laid the first stone for the school’s first building.
Starting with just 30 students, Makueni Boys expanded over the years and has grown to accommodate over 2,000 students in 10 streams. It was upgraded to a national school in 2011, with the first cohort of students admitted in January 2012.
