King Ceasor University (KCU), formerly known as St. Augustine International University, is a private chartered university in Uganda. Established in 2011, it is accredited by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE). The university is noted for its cosmopolitan student body, drawing learners from Tanzania, Nigeria, Palestine, India, Rwanda, Malawi, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.
Location
KCU operates as a multi-campus institution, with academic and administrative facilities spread across several locations:
- Bunga Campus (Main Campus): Located in Makindye Division, Kampala, about 8 km southeast of the central business district, coordinates 0°16′21″N, 32°37′19″E.
- Kisoro Campus: Based in southwestern Uganda, near Saint Francis Hospital Mutolere, serving as a teaching hospital.
- Mulago Campus: Located on Mulago Hill, Kampala, adjacent to Mulago National Referral Hospital, enhancing medical training.
- Namugongo Campus: Situated in Kira Town, Wakiso District, close to the Uganda Martyrs Shrines, hosting the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.
History
Founded in 2011, King Ceasor University quickly positioned itself as a professional and practical institution with a strong focus on medical sciences, business, law, and engineering. The university’s establishment came at a time when Uganda expanded private higher education.
The Chancellor is King Ceasor Augustus Mulenga, while the Chairperson of Council is Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi. The founding Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Charity Basaza Mulenga, is an engineer trained at Makerere University and Loughborough University (UK).
