Galaxy S26 Ultra

The launch of the Galaxy S26 series is just around the corner, with the most anticipated model being the Galaxy S26 Ultra. While there won’t be major camera hardware upgrades compared to its predecessor, the S26 Ultra will introduce a new feature: a 24MP camera resolution option.

Galaxy S26 Ultra 24MP Camera Feature

According to tipster @UniverseIce, the 24MP resolution on the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t be the phone’s default resolution. Instead, it must be activated via the Camera Assistant app. Once enabled, this resolution will appear in the Advanced Resolution Options section at the top of the app’s interface. Users will be able to switch to this option in both Photo and Portrait modes within the default Camera app.

This feature is similar to the 24MP option introduced with the iPhone 15 series, but with a few key differences.

Clean Images and Higher Detail

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 24MP option is designed for everyday usage, offering cleaner images with higher details. Unlike the 24MP option in Expert RAW (which is already available on previous models), this feature aims to provide better image quality by overcoming issues like oversharpening and purple fringing, which sometimes occur in Expert RAW.

Processing Speed and Performance

Processing 24MP images on the Galaxy S26 Ultra will reportedly take up to three seconds. However, all the processing will occur in the background, ensuring that users don’t experience lag while using the camera app. This allows the phone to handle the larger images smoothly without affecting performance.

Exclusive Feature for the Galaxy S26 Ultra

The 24MP camera resolution option will be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra and will not be available on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, despite both devices using the same ISOCELL HP2 camera hardware. This move seems aimed at encouraging users to upgrade to the newer S26 Ultra, as Samsung keeps this feature exclusive to the newer model.
