Functions of the National Land Commission
- Manage Public Land
Oversee and manage public land on behalf of the national and county governments. - Recommend National Land Policy
Provide recommendations to the national government on developing a national land policy. - Advise on Title Registration
Guide the government on a comprehensive program for registering land titles across Kenya. - Conduct Research
Undertake research on land and natural resource use to make recommendations to relevant authorities. - Investigate Land Injustices
Initiate investigations into current or historical land injustices, either proactively or upon receiving complaints, and recommend appropriate remedies. - Encourage Traditional Dispute Resolution
Promote the use of traditional dispute resolution methods in land-related conflicts. - Assess Land Tax and Premiums
Assess taxes on land and premiums on immovable property in areas designated by law. - Monitor Land Use Planning
Oversee land use planning and ensure sustainable land management throughout the country.
