Tusker 7-1 Loss: Coach Charles Okere Eyes Strong Finish After Historic Defeat
Tusker FC coach Charles Okere has broken his silence after what he described as the “worst day in the club’s history”—a devastating 7-1 loss to Sofapaka in the FKF Premier League.
The shocking result stunned fans and left the team’s title hopes in tatters. Now, with only two matches remaining in the season, Okere is focused on salvaging pride and inspiring a turnaround.
Okere Reflects on Painful Defeat
“It was humiliating and one of the worst days in the club’s history. We can’t hide from that fact,” Okere told Telecomasia.net. “We didn’t give a good account of ourselves. It was painful—we let the club down.”
The defeat has all but ended Tusker’s title chase. They sit on 55 points, six behind leaders Kenya Police, who hold a +15-goal advantage and two remaining fixtures.
Coach Urges Team to Bounce Back
Despite the setback, Okere is determined to use the loss as a turning point.
“Sometimes, the worst days become the start of the best days. We must take this painful lesson and use it to do better,” said the coach. “We have two more games, and we have to bounce back.”
Tusker FC will face Kariobangi Sharks and Kakamega Homeboyz in their remaining matches. Okere hopes to see a renewed fighting spirit and improved performance to close out the season with dignity.
