The Banda School Historical Background

The Banda School has its roots in 1956 when it began as Kaptagat Preparatory School near Eldoret, founded by Mr. and Mrs. Chitty. Initially, the school had 170 children enrolled. In 1966, it officially became The Banda School, starting with 24 children, eight teaching staff, and a headmaster.

Over the years, the school has grown exponentially, expanding its facilities and programs. The Banda School is now recognized for its academic rigor and outstanding commitment to student development.

The Banda School offers a wide range of educational programs, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded, dynamic, and holistic education. The school follows a dual curriculum system, including the British National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate (IB) framework.

Pegasus Early Years (Ages 18 Months to 5 Years)

The school’s Early Years Program focuses on fostering creativity, independence, and a love for learning through play-based activities. Children engage in arts and crafts, storytelling, and messy play to develop their cognitive and social skills. The Pegasus Early Years classes cater to various age groups, such as:

  • Diamonds (3–4 years): Ksh. 282,500 per term
  • Stars (4–5 years): Ksh. 307,100 per term

Lower School (Ages 5 to 9)

The Lower School at The Banda School uses the National Curriculum of England & Wales. The students in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 (Ages 5 to 9) learn core subjects, including Mathematics, English, and Science, alongside specialized subjects such as French, Kiswahili, Music, and Physical Education.

  • Year 1: Ksh. 405,500
  • Year 2: Ksh. 433,400
  • Year 3: Ksh. 459,100
  • Year 4: Ksh. 485,800
  • Year 5: Ksh. 515,800
  • Year 6: Ksh. 378,800

Upper School (Ages 9 to 13)

The Upper School at The Banda School follows the British curriculum and includes subject specialists for each area of study. Students at this level engage in subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Geography, History, Art, and Performing Arts.

The school has a detailed fee structure based on age and program level, which varies depending on the grade and term.

Kindergarten and Early Years

  • Caterpillar Club (12 months to 2 years):
    • Five mornings: Ksh. 115,000 per term
    • Four mornings: Ksh. 95,500 per term
    • Three mornings: Ksh. 76,000 per term
  • Nursery (2 to 3 years):
    • Five days: Ksh. 290,000 per term
    • Five mornings: Ksh. 241,400 per term
    • Four mornings: Ksh. 209,000 per term
    • Three mornings: Ksh. 177,000 per term

Preparatory School (Year 1–6)

  • Year 1 (Ages 5–6): Ksh. 440,000 per term
  • Year 2 (Ages 6–7): Ksh. 675,000 per term
  • Years 3 to 8 (Ages 7–13): Ksh. 732,000 per term

Additional Fees:

  • Application Fee: Ksh. 1,750
  • Registration Fee: Ksh. 2,390
  • Refundable Deposit: Ksh. 13,200

Discounts and Penalties:

  • 10% discount for the second and subsequent children in Year 2 and above.
  • 5% discount for paying tuition fees in full for the year in advance.
  • Late payments incur a Ksh. 10,000 penalty, plus 2.5% per month after 14 days.
  • One term’s notice is required for withdrawals, or a full term’s fees are charged.
